mom's popcorn Line

My mother sold popcorn, after school, for the PTA. I remember two lines. one for the kids that had money,the other for the kids without money. My mother would serve them bags of popcorn,as she counted, 1,2,3... she would open her coin purse and pay for their popcorn,with shiny little dimes. #IARTG #love

Half a taco...

I am praying for the safe return of Madeleine McCann.  I also cant help but have these feelings. Maddie is one of three kids born with the help of IVF.  Her parents are lovely, albeit, naïve people who apparently, did not get the following memo:  "You are parents, your life is over"  I thought of this the other night.  My meme asked her daughter for a taco. You know those lil ones, w/ steak?  Two bites, maybe three.  Anyways she handed her #mom half a taco. That's it! We laughed.  Maddie's  folks went out to dinner, as you know, and someone took their kid. Someone said lets leave the kids alone, and no one said ...wait, that's not a good idea.  I don't want to make them feel bad, im sure they have REplayed it over n over in their minds.  Apparently, they didn't trust a baby sitter, and checked on the kids every 30 minutes.  I cannot fathom them leaving the door unlocked. When I heard that, I screamed at the tv...were you trying to lose them???   Thirty minutes is a long time for three toddlers.  I don't know if the room was child proofed ...is that a word?  Good lord there are plugs and knives and hot water....the mind wanders off to a not so pretty trail. Going to two restaurants, alone, in peace, is not an option, you have right now. You could have hired a sitter and brought them all to dinner.  Anyways, hindsight is 20/20....xx #love #book

Surprise Apple salad...xx

3- Snickers or Milky way candy bars , sliced. 3- medium. size green apples, peeled, cored, and sliced. I 8oz tub Cool whip thawed. Mix and store in ice box.. Kind of strange, but good. Makes me think of mom who loved apples and surprises! xx   Really is a surprise!  #Love n miss u #mom

Bowl o' Beets xx

Not sure why....but we always had a bowl of beets on our table at the holidays. It was our centerpiece. I never thought to ask my mom why. It was just there like, family. Of course, they were bright and beautiful. Of course, they stained every white linen tablecloth. Now i buy them and put them on the table after all, they are a part of the family....xx

A Roast for three xx

Today i made a roast and thought of my mom. When i was a newlywed and had a child, she would buy us a little roast. She did so, because she got herself one, to share with dad. I cant eat if you dont, she would say. Thanks Mom for thinking of us, my little family of three....... 1976 xx

Mother's cleaning Tips! xx

Absolutely no hair brushes in kitchen. No hair washing in sink. No hand washing in kitchen. Change linens each week. No big stuffed animals or canopies, as they collect dust! Wash kitchen towels separate from bath towels. We used douvets to cover our beds. We used coasters under our drinks and ate each meal at the table. Mom always placed a tea cup with a rose! xx

Cleaning a Bubbler xx

Anyone who has a bubbler knows they are hard to clean and maintain. I find that salt and lemon work well together. Keeping your Bubbler poked thru, everytime also helps. Another cleaning tip... from Susan Murphy inc Enjoy! xx *PS It's all about the tips, huh mom?

The pony Tail! xx

Ever since i was lil i loved Pony tails! I loved Barbie's pony tail, Judy Jetson's pony tail and my mom's. Looking up one day i saw her make her own blonde pony tail. I was about 3 or 4. I always loved high pony tails and wanted mine higher and higher! When i had my own lil girl i wanted her to have high pony tails, too. I would go to work and beg my husband to make her a high one.. Most days i was disappointed as her tail hung low. I even made a tote to mark the occasion! I have followed the pony tail thru the years. The other day i made a messy one like the celebs do. My younger daughter asked me... you brushed your hair??? Yes, i said it's the new messy tail the celebs wear. Of course it helps if you are young, thin, and beautiful! xx

To Tan or not to Tan?

Isn't really a question any more. I grew up with a sun worshipping mother. She was nearly perfect in every way. There we baked and there we lay. I have heard it is addicting and we do have that personality. Was she happier in the summer? I really don't remember any difference. I do know we went out of our way to seek the sun out many times per year. It wasn't the complete focus of our lives but the house of sun is where we did worship. Which was fine for Mom who became bronze in only one day, but for me, it meant burns and blisters. Ouch! Now we also know it can mean skin cancer. So as parents this is the deal. You do your best and hope for the best and only time will really tell. xx

Money! xx

Money is a funny thing. Either you have it or you don't. The minute you get some and try to get ahead...something brakes or the brakes go out. Then you have less money. When i was growing up my dad tried to save every penny. My mom tried to spend every penny. There was a constant fight. People will tell you they have the money thing figured out, but they don't. I know people who spend extra money driving around to save a few pennies on Jello. I know someone who goes to hotels and orders room service. They think they got it going on. One thing is for sure never give or loan anyone money. You can of course, just make sure you tell that person good bye! It will be the end of your relationship. You gave them something they didn't earn, and you will throw the Universe out of whack. They will never remember you helped them, you will always remember you helped them. Money is a funny thing, either you have it or don't. xx

LOOKING BACK....

I dont care much for Holidays anymore. They use to be my whole life and i miss them. End of year holidays are the worst, as i tend to look back on my life. The last few years have been a living hell. Lots of pain and loss. But to look on the bright side.... a few good things did happen. My oldest bought me clothes. My son is speaking to his ex. My daughter got a new car... i get to drive around in. Hopefully this will be my year to shine. I miss my parents, especially my mom. I have to be my own good advice, my own cheerleader. I need to stretch their love for me forever......................its ok there is enough to go around! xx

Not formally trained, simply a creative Libra. My Dad was a shoe designer for Vogue shoes. My mother a hair stylist to the stars, she also sewed all of our clothes. After dinner she would model shoes for my dad. High heels, thigh high boots, mom's legs were the greatest! I took dance for more than a decade, and piano for a few years, but i wasnt allowed my own creative outlet.....my own expression. So i find myself here........and there...my totes and themes and ramblings.... about my totes and themes.......... :) xx
